Automatically me and my team got a variety of our ideas from Katy Perry ' Last Friday Night '
From this we got the idea of the glasses and how she wants to fit in with the cool kids but also how she has her friend who glommed her up. We wanted to take the idea of the friend most importantly due to it looking effective and it gives it more ideas for more characters.
Another video we got some initial ideas from was Taylor Swift ' You Belong With Me'
We had a similar idea on how she chases the popular boy and how she gets dressed up and how she has the glasses and the pony tails we thought this would be really effective. When we looked more into it we realised it was very clique even though we wanted to keep to this idea we wanted to make it less about chasing boys and more about self happiness. We then decided to scrap the crush on the boy idea as we didn't want to go down the stereotypical factor that women need men.
When looking at Cool Kids official music video it was just a performance type of music video and we wanted to do narrative so we liked the fact they didn't have a narrative music video due to the fact we couldn't be seen as copying the music video and it gives us more creativity to create our own video knowing we didn't copy any ideas from the original music video even if its not done intentionally, this means we created the video how we thought it should have been if they made a narrative music video.
Overall looking into these music videos gave us a great idea on costumes props and initial ideas to make our music video relevant to the storyline but not to clique. It was a good too look into as it gave us better ideas on what we wanted to do with our music video.
